Aukett Swanke Group plc is an AIM-listed company, with a foundation in architectural services since 1906. The group is on a transformative journey to become a leading provider of Smart Buildings and related services, ensuring the technical systems that run modern premises are designed as an integral part of the structure from the outset.

A two-pronged strategy is driving the group towards this objective. Aukett Swanke’s core architectural practice has been at the forefront of the sector-wide move to Smart Buildings, an approach which is now becoming the industry norm.  Aukett Swanke Group aims to maintain long-term revenue growth in its core architectural business. A 100% increase in revenue would place Aukett Swanke on the edge of the UK’s top 10 architectural practices, unlocking a series of strategic benefits for the group.

Alongside driving growth in the group’s long-standing architectural business, Aukett Swanke Group plc completed three acquisitions in 2023. We are continuously evaluating value-accretive acquisitions in the Smart Buildings sector, with technological offerings that synergise with the group’s operations and our valued client base.

What are Smart Buildings?

The technical systems that run modern premises are at the heart of Smart Buildings: intelligent, sustainable, connected spaces that optimise energy efficiency, enhance the user experience, and redefine the future of the built environment. Smart Buildings have a variety of sensors which collect data relating to energy usage, heating, occupancy, device security, parking and more. This can be as simple as adjusting lighting and heating in empty rooms, to protecting elevators from cyberattacks or creating a complete digital twin of the building.

In our joined-up approach, the systems of Smart Buildings – from heating to room-booking to security – are linked together from the outset. For our investors, this means the group benefits from recurring revenues for the provision of Smart Building services, alongside our project-based architectural practice.

Our Heritage

Our history dates back to 1906 with the founding of the Walker & Gillette partnership in New York.

The UK practice was founded in London in 1972, and in 1988 became listed on the Official List of the London Stock Exchange under the name of Aukett Associates. The Group transferred to the Alternative Investment Market in April 2006 following the reverse takeover of Fitzroy Robinson Ltd (est. 1955) and renamed itself as Aukett Fitzroy Robinson Group Plc.

In 2013 the company acquired Swanke Hayden Connell in the UK, (the successor to Walker & Gillette), and renamed under the current brand of Aukett Swanke Group Plc.

Our architecture studios operate in a variety of arrangements including wholly owned subsidiaries, joint ventures, associate and licensee businesses.

In 2023 we acquired technology systems integrator Torpedo Factory Group, workplace technology business Anders+Kern, and energy efficiency software business ecoDriver.  This marked an enhancement of our strategy, creating a listed Smart Buildings group. With a revitalised management team we are demonstrating both organic and acquisitive growth, building recurring revenues, and setting the foundation for improved shareholder returns.

Investors

Aukett Swanke Group’s shares are traded on the AIM section of the London Stock Exchange. While working to grow our core architectural business towards the UK top 10, the Group continues to examine further acquisition opportunities to increase shareholder value. Aukett Swanke Group plc is uniquely positioned to leverage the new technologies that are redefining the built environment, and to integrate those technologies into new Smart Buildings from the outset.

Aukett Swanke is the UK’s only listed architectural practice, with a significant portion of shares owned by current employees. With best-in-class employee share ownership schemes, Aukett Swanke is uniquely positioned to attract and retain the brightest and best up-and-coming talent in the industry. The company’s new plans align shareholders and employees, underpinning the value of AUK shares.

The group is utilising its strategic position to add value to acquisitions in growing niches, all while bringing a new and improved offering to our valued and trusted client base. By cross-selling Smart Buildings services alongside our renowned architecture projects, the group’s new strategy positions Aukett Swanke Group plc to build beyond one-off project fees and generate recurring revenues for our investors.
